group programme - Amber Tour, the northern highlights

Programme   8 days / 7 nights

DAY 1   Warsaw
Arrival into WARSAW, meeting guide at the Airport, panoramique sightseeing tour on the way to the Hotel. Welcome dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 2   Warsaw
Breakfast, departure for a half day Sightseeing tour of Warsaw including the pictureresque Old Town, Royal Route and visiting amber exhibition in the Earth Museum. In the afternoon - excursion to Wilanow Palace and Royal Garden, the finest Baroque residence (17th c.) in Poland. Dinner & overnight at the Hotel in Warsaw.

DAY 3   Warsaw – Malbork - Gdansk
Breakfast, drive to Gdansk via Malbork, visiting Malbork – the biggest brickcastle, one of the largest Medieval fortresses in Europe. It is the former seat of the Grand Master of Teutonic Order, registered on Unesco World Heritage List. Visiting of the museum includes an exhibition of the castle’s history as well as an interesting exhibition of amber treasures. Afterwards we continue for Gdansk. Arrival in Gdansk, dinner & overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 4   Gdansk
After breakfast, sightseeing tour of Gdansk, the Polish maritime capital and also city of the first Independent Trade Union “Solidarity”. The trade of the amber processing is also far from minor in importance. Gdańsk cultivates its centuries-long tradition in the field, and its nickname of the world capital of amber is well earned. Our tour begins with the Royal Way, including the Long Street and Long Market, next is the Gothic Town Hall, the magnificent Artus Court, charming Mariacka Street boasts with numerous gift shops and amber galleries, the Gothic St.Mary’s Church, the biggest port crane in Medieval Europe, Neptune’s Fountain – a symbol of Gdansk, the Golden Gate and on the end we reach the Oliwa Cathedral famous of its 18th century Organ. Lunch break during the tour. Free amber shopping time in afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 5   Gdansk – Gdynia - Sopot
Breakfast, departure for Gdynia, we start our city tour of Gdynia with the harbour, then Kosciuszko Square and Southern Pier where two famous historic ships are moored: the oldest destroyer in the world "ORP Błyskawica" and frigate "Dar Pomorza". Next we walk up Kamienna Gora Hill to admire extraordinary panoramic view of Gdynia. On the end we visit the Oceanographic Museum and Aquarium that house scores of marine fauna and flora exibits. Lunch at the Restaurant boat “Viking”. Afterwards drive to Sopot. Sightseeing of Sopot, a noble holiday resort with its longest wooden pier (512 m) in Europe. Return to Gdansk, dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 6   Gdansk - Sobieszewo Island

After breakfast, departure transfer to Sobieszewo Island situated 15 km from centre of Gdansk. Since XIX century the island, called at the time The Golden Island, has been a great tourist attraction for residents of Gdańsk. Its unique natural qualities were quickly noticed: clean wide beaches, mixed forests, unique flora and fauna (two birds reserves) and a beautiful landscape. During our visit we will be aquainted with the history of amber and watch a multimedial presentation about amber processing. Return to Gdansk, dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

DAY 7   Gdansk – Torun – Warsaw
Breakfast, morning departure for Warsaw. We stop at Torun, a birth place of Nicolaus Copernicus, the originator of an astronomical revolution based on the heliocentric theory.Torun is also famous of the greatest number of retained, authentic Gothic monuments. Its medieval centre with original urban layout was entrerd on Unesco’s World Cultural Heritage List. A short break for gingerbread tasting - the most famous product of Torun that has been made for the centuries and one of the most popular Polish food products.
Departure to Warsaw, dinner at the traditional Polish Restaurant and overnight stay.

DAY 8   Warsaw
Breakfast, check out time. Departure transfer to the Airport.
